“…Perhaps it can assume both conductivities, in any case it should be re-investigated. CuBiSe 2 is a similar case, one author's work on thin film 130 indicating n-type, and another's on bulk, 96,97 p-type. The p-type conductivity of the copper chalcogenides is generally rationalized in terms of the provision of an excess of the volatile components (e.g., Sb and a chalcogen) that would encourage the formation of copper vacancy acceptors.…”

“…Synthesis from the elements in sealed tubes is the most widely reported method and has been demonstrated for Cu 3 SbS 3 , 83 'tetrahedrite' Cu 12 Sb 4 S 13 and its mixed Sb-Bi analogue, 85 CuSbSe 2 , 86,87 Cu 3 SbSe 3 , 87,89,90 and CuBiSe 2 . 96,97 Spark sintering of the elements has been used for Cu 3 SbSe 3 84 and Cu 3 SbSe 3 91 ; and. 91,92 The elements may also be combined by ball milling at room temperature to produce powder.…”

“…Measurements of thermal conductivity were carried out using the concentric cylinder method [7,8,9] where 0.5 gm of the material in the liquid state was poured into the cylindrical gap between two concentric graphite cylinders kept in nitrogen atmosphere. The systems was fitted with a heater and sensitive thermocouples for accurate measurements of temperature within kO.2"C and thermal conductivity was calculated using the formula:-where dl and d2 are the diameters of the inner and outer cylinders, TI and T2 are the temperatures on both sides of the sample, L is the length of the cylinders and Q is the quantity of heat generated.…”

“…Values of room temperature electronic and bipolar thermal conductivity A,(30) and Ah,,(30) for the investigated sample were calculated according to the following equation ( 10) [20] and equation (8), using values of cr(30), given in table I: where E , is the activation energy in the solid state (Ealsolid = O.lleV),K is the Boltzmann constant and T is the absolute temperature.…”
