Background. The research results of fat-soluble vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) encapsulation with β-cyclodextrin have been presented in this work. The vitamin D3 inclusion complex with β-cyclodextrin was obtained under microwave radiation. The surface morphology of obtained clathrate inclusion complexes was described with the help of a scanning electron microscope. The thermographic measurement results on a differential scanning calorimeter have been presented. The activation energy of the β-cyclodextrin : vitamin D3 clathrate complex thermal oxidative destruction reaction was calculated. The clathrate thermal destruction kinetic parameters were determined. The inclusion complex spectral properties were characterized by IR-Fourier and 1H and 13C NMR spectroscopy. The existence of β-cyclodextrin inclusion complex with vitamin D3 in a 2 : 1 ratio was confirmed by the experimental results. The activation energy of thermal destruction of the inclusion complex of β-cyclodextrin with vitamin D3 was calculated using four different methods.

In this work, the thermal decomposition of copolymers based on polyethylene glycol fumarate with the acrylic acid using various ratios of initial monomers has been studied for the first time. The samples were studied in air and nitrogen. According to the thermograms analysis, it was found that the copolymer sample decomposition begins at higher temperatures for a copolymer with high content of polyester resin. The copolymer is vigorously oxidized by the oxygen when heated in air, and one can observe almost complete sample decomposition, whereas it decomposes with a residue of ~ 15% in an inert medium. The activation energies for copolymers with different compositions were estimated using the differential methods of Freeman-Carroll, Achar and Sharpe-Wentworth. The activation energy values found by the three methods demonstrated a good convergence. It was shown that, the activation energy values are higher (~ 200 kJ/mol in the inert medium, and ~ 95 kJ/mol in the oxygen atmosphere) for a copolymer with a lower composition of polyester resin, and the activation energy is ~180 and ~85 kJ/mol for a copolymer with a greater composition of p-EGF-AA. The copolymer is more thermostable in the nitrogen atmosphere according to the kinetic parameters. Additionally, there were determined the thermodynamic characteristics, such as the Gibbs energy (∆G) and the entropy (∆S). They also confirm the destruction process dependence on the components ratio in the synthesized copolymer.

Understanding the physical and chemical properties of new-generation polymeric materials during the synthesis is very important in obtaining the desired product in design and production. Chemical, thermal, and physical parameters as well as degradation kinetics of the resins developed especially in recent years are the main stages that determine the polymer composition process that affects material selection. In this study, the potential to use RAFT agent (2-cyano-2-propyldodecyltrithiocarbonate, CPDT) in the synthesis of new polymers based on polypropylene fumarate phthalate has revealed important properties. To exemplify, the concentration of the RAFT agent affects the polymer-based mesh density associated with the yield of the product. Changes in swelling behavior and thermodynamic parameters of polymers synthesized in the presence of RAFT agent were observed. Chemical composition and stability characterizations of the synthesized grafted polymers were performed by FT-IR, 13C, 1H-NMR spectroscopy and TGA. The grafted polymers analyzed by SEM morphology were found to have hydrogel sorption potential showed signs of a loose surface and the formation of a layered and porous structure in comparison with the grafted polymers. The resulting compounds have a high swelling capacity and increased yield. At the same time, this study will shed light on the thermodynamic calculations of the graft polymers in order to determine or predicting the polymer composition. Graphical abstract
