Thermal-Electrochemical Lithium-Ion Battery Simulations on Microstructure and Porous Electrode Scale
Arnulf Latz,

Abstract:Heat production within a battery cell is governed by local fluxes of ions and electrical currents in the microstructure of the battery electrodes. These fluxes are strongly coupled with thermal transport, leading to a fully coupled reaction transport model for batteries [1][2][3]. By applying the volume-averaging technique to our thermal-electrochemical microscopic theory the corresponding thermal-electrochemical porous electrode theory can be derived [3]. Implementation of both models in our simulation softwa… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
