“…In some cases, such as zirconia ceramic materials, the synthesis parameters could be controlled to stabilise the high temperature phases, tetragonal and cubic, at ambient conditions, in order to give effect to their potential applications. These phases are stabilised by making solid solutions with some additives such as MgO [4,5].…”

“…At a calcination temperature of 800 • C the major diffraction peaks matched those of the cubic MgOZrO 2 phase (2θ = 30.6, 35.4, 50.9, 60.5, 63.5; d = 5.09Å; JCPDS: 77-2156) while cubic MgO (JCPDS: 77-2364) was observed as a minor phase. It should be mentioned that for ZrO 2 , the cubic phase is metastable but it can be stabilized through the formation of a solid solution with MgO [18]. It was reported that in mixed zirconium/nickel oxides, prepared as nanoparticles stabilized by capping their surfaces with organic ligands, ZrO 2 was found to exist in a tetragonal phase.…”

“…4. One observes a type IV isotherm with type A hysteresis, characteristic of a mesoporous system with cylindrical pores [18]. The values for the surface areas and pore volumes of the Ni/MgOZrO 2 samples were calculated by application Fig.…”

“…A mistura de zircônia contendo 3% em massa de MgO (zircônia parcialmente estabilizada) é conhecida sendo largamente utilizada na preparação de sensores de oxigênio capazes de resistir a choques térmicos intensos [18]. No entanto, esta composição apresenta problemas de homogeneização e, em conseqüência, há dificuldades na obtenção de materiais sinterizados homogêneos.…”
