Thermal stability of chalcogenide glasses TeAIV in relation to the atomic number of the AIV element

Abstract: On the basis of an analysis of the properties of AIV elements and of their alloys with tellurium, an interpretation is given of the observed regularity involving a rise of the thermal stability of chalcogenide glasses Te0.~,-A0.~5 with a decrease in the atomic number of the AIv element. It is postulated that the thermal stability of these glasses is determined by the entropy of melting of the AIV elemcnt referred t o one atom.
