Thermische Oszillationen und chaotisches Verhalten bei der Oxidation von Kohlenmonoxid an Pd-Kristalliten im Inneren einer Zeolithmatrix / Thermal Oscillations and Chaotic Behaviour at the Oxidation of CO on Pd Crystallites within a Zeolite Matrix

Abstract: The oxidation of CO on a Pd supported catalyst was investigated in a differential reactor. The catalyst consisted of a homogeneous distribution of Pd crystallites (0 =8 -10 nm) within a zeolite matrix (Faujasite type X). Depending on the temperature of the reactor and the CO concentration in the feed gas bistable, periodic and chaotic behaviour of the temperature of the catalyst bed could be observed.

“…Most experimental studies of chemical chaos have been performed on relatively complex systems, the BZ reaction,42"44 enzyme preparations 45 or heterogeneously catalyzed reactions. 46 In this section we touch briefly upon some of the results on the BZ system and then mention two homogeneous inorganic systems which, while less thoroughly studied to date, appear to exhibit an equally rich variety of aperiodic behavior.…”
