The current study concerns the thermochemistry of metal phenolates wherein the metal is bound to the oxygen by a σ bond, or is part of an ionic solid salt or ion pairs in solution. The main quantities that are discussed are enthalpies of formation and of binding, equilibrium and stability constants. The discussion is organized by increasing atomic number of the metals, starting with lithium and ending with the actinides. Complete coverage is not intended, but at least one rationalized thermochemical example for each metal is given, where such data exists.
