Thermoconvective Instability of a Rotating Viscoelastic Fluid Layer Heated from Below

Abstract

The stability of a horizontal, viscoelastic fluid layer heated from below is investigated in the case of a container rotating with uniform speed. A critical assessment of earlier predictions by other authors is provided here together with new threshold values for overstability.
