Thermodynamics of asymptotically flat charged black holes in third order Lovelock gravity

Abstract: We present a new class of asymptotically flat charge static solutions in third order Lovelock gravity. These solutions present black hole solutions with two inner and outer event horizons, extreme black holes or naked singularities provided the parameters of the solutions are chosen suitable. We find that the uncharged asymptotically flat solutions can present black hole with two inner and outer horizons. This kind of solution does not exist in Einstein or Gauss-Bonnet gravity, and it is a special effect in th… Show more

“…(In contrast, there is only one branch of real solutions in the third-order Lovelock gravity [32].) Secondly, the metric function (3.12) reduces to the solutions obtained by Dotti and Gleiser [19] for C = 0, by Boulware and Deser, and independently by Wheeler [5] for Θ = 0, C = 0, k = 1, and Λ = 0 and by Lorenz-Petzold and independently by Cai for Θ = 0 and C = 0 [10,12].…”

“…Due to the AdS/CFT correspondence, these extended terms give a correction to the large N expansion of boundary CFTs on the side of dual field theory [4][5][6]. So far, the exact static and spherically symmetric black hole solutions have been investigated in [7], thermodynamics of black holes in [7][8][9][10] in third order Lovelock gravity. In addition, some rotating black branes [11][12][13] and slowly rotating black holes [14][15][16][17] have been discussed in the second (Gauss-Bonnet) and third order Lovelock gravity.…”
