Thermoluminescence studies in swift heavy ion irradiated aluminum oxide

Abstract: Thermoluminescence (TL) of combustion-synthesized aluminum oxide bombarded with 120 MeV swift Au 9+ ions in the fluence range of 1 × 10 11 − 2 × 10 13 ions cm −2 has been studied at room temperature. Two TL glows-a well-resolved one with peak at ∼623 K (Tg 2 ) and another unresolved one at ∼513 K (Tg1)-are recorded at a heating rate of 10 K s −1 . It is found that the TL intensity increases with the fluence up to 1 × 10 13 ions cm −2 and then decreases with increase in fluence. Also, the prominent glow peak te… Show more

“…To obtain these parameters, the glow curves are deconvoluted using Origin 7.5 software. The trap parameters of deconvoluted curves are calculated using the glow curve shape method [28]. Trap density (n o ) is calculated using the relation (6) [29].…”

“…The trap parameters are calculated using glow curve shape method (modified by Chen) and tabulated in table 1. The detailed description of calculations is discussed in our previous communication (Nagabhushana et al 2008). The activation energy and frequency factors are estimated to be 1⋅01 eV, 1⋅52 eV and 7⋅51 × 10 9 s -1 , 2⋅68 × 10 11 s -1 for T g1 and T g2 , respectively.…”

“…The kinetics parameters pertaining to the glow peak are calculated using the glow curve shape method modified by Chen as shown in Figure 5(d) (26,27) and the values for a typical dose of 4 kGy are given in Table 1. The equations involved in the glow curve shape method are given elsewhere (28):…”
