Thermophysical Properties of a New Dicationic Ionic Liquid

Abstract: A new functionalized dicationic ionic liquid was synthesized with the final aim of studying its application in the extraction of metal ions in the mineral industry. In light of this application, the density, refractive index, and dynamic viscosities have been determined and correlated as a function of temperature. Density data were used to calculate the volumetric properties of the ionic liquid. Several empirical equations were used to evaluate the correlation between the density and refractive indices. The re… Show more

“…Solution-state 1 H and 19 F nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectra were measured on a Bruker Avance III 9.4 T instrument (400 MHz 1 H frequency), in deuterated methanol (CD 3 OD). Mass spectrometry was performed on an Agilent 1200 series HPLC system.…”

“…The samples were packed into 5 mm glass tubes in an Ar-filled glovebox and sealed with a Teflon cap before being transferred out and inserted into the probe for variable temperature measurements. 1 H and 7 Li static spectra were recorded with single pulse excitation while a Hahn echo pulse sequence was used for 19 F. 1 H static NMR spectra consisting of broad and narrow components were analysed using 2 H Pake pattern and Gaussian peak, respectively. A CSA (chemical shift anisotropy) pattern was used for the analysis of 19 F static NMR peaks while 7 Li static NMR peaks were studied using Gaussian peak patterns.…”

“…In the case of dicationic ionic liquids, the modification potential is much greater than in the case of monocationic ionic liquids. It is not only possible to select cations and anions, but also the type and length of the spacer (Claros et al, 2010 , 2012 ). Additionally, DILs may contain appropriate functional groups, such as thiol, ether, hydroxyl and amino groups in the structure of cations (Lohar et al 2016 ).…”
