“…Notwithstanding that the genome of P. halepensis is yet to be fully sequenced and may have negatively influenced the identification numbers, we were able to identify 1315 proteins and determine the relative concentration for 858. This is in agreement with the average number found in other proteomic studies in Pinus species [ 31 , 37 , 38 , 39 ].…”

“…The histone H4 variant TH091 and histone H2A.2.2 (core components of nucleosomes), and the 40S ribosomal protein S15a-1 and 60S ribosomal protein L18-3 (structural components of ribosomes) had increased amounts in samples from heat stress conditions. This agrees with previous studies on the temperature stress response, where ribosomal proteins, translation regulator factors and translation regulatory proteins played a significant role [ 39 , 64 , 65 , 66 ]. This data, combined with the fact that proteins´ abundance variations are not always correlated with changes in the corresponding transcriptome [ 67 ], can explain the lack of significant differences found in the transcription assay performed here.…”

“…In our lab, several studies have been developed to optimize somatic embryogenesis [ 18 ] and organogenesis [ 19 , 20 ] in many species of Pinus . Moreover, as a result of priming cells during the somatic embryogenesis process in conifers, different metabolic, epigenetic, and proteomic profiles related to abiotic stress tolerance have been described recently [ 21 , 22 , 23 ]. However, as far as we know, no work has been done in order to improve the micropropagation of P. ponderosa by testing the chemical composition of the culture media or physical factors, such as type of lights (fluorescent versus LEDs) and their effect on morphogenesis, tissue micromorphology, and the overall success of the process.…”
