Thicknesses of Sclera and Lamina Cribrosa in Patients With Central Retinal Vein Occlusion

Abstract: Purpose: To evaluate thicknesses of sclera and lamina cribrosa (LC) in central retinal vein occlusion (CRVO). Method: Thirty-two patients with CRVO (mean age 62.2 ± 11.6 years, women/men 18/14) and 35 age- and sex-matched healthy volunteers were included into the study. Scleral thickness was measured at scleral spur and at 1 to 3 mm from scleral spur in four quadrants (temporal, nasal, super, and inferior) using anterior segment optical coherence tomogr… Show more

“…We did not utilize optical coherence tomography angiography to quantitatively analyze choroidal vasculature to further validate our speculations.3. The sample size was small, and due to the different pathogenic mechanisms of BRVO and CRVO [24] , our study only included BRVO patients, lacking research on CRVO patients.4. This study lacks research on the optic disc morphology and blood ow in patients with BRVO.…”

“…From the RVO perspective, Adiyeke et al recently found that the occlusion of the central retinal vein is also associated with a thickened sclera 16 . Decompression of the scleral outlet via radial neurotomy showed bene cial results 17 .…”
