“…Although the laboratory has seen a decline in sample numbers from the mercury lighting sector, it has been suggested that this sector is undergoing market growth due to an emphasis on improving energy efficiency ( Zimmermann et al, 2014 ; Gul et al, 2020 ). Fluorescent and other mercury containing bulbs and lamps are more energy efficient than incandescent and halogen lamps; this has resulted in a significant increase in use in recent years ( Duncan et al, 2011 ; Zimmermann et al, 2014 ; Gul et al, 2020 ).
