“…With over half a million followers on Instagram, FR has been credited with capturing the public's attention in ways that fashion activism has 'failed to do until now' (Hastings 2016). We follow Young (1990a: 5) in arguing that calls to take up responsibility do not arise outside the fashion system but are situated within its 'concrete social and political practices' and, consequently, take hashtag activism as indicative of the kinds of political consumerism that 21st-century fashion generates (Horton and Street 2021).
