Three Coordination Polymers Constructed with Zinc(II), 3,3′‐Thiodipropionic Acid, and Bipyridyl Ligands: Syntheses, Crystal Structures and Luminescent Properties

Abstract: Abstract. Three zinc(II) coordination polymers {[Zn(tdpa)(bpe)]· 2H 2 O} n (1), [Zn(tdpa)(bpp)] n (2), and [Zn(tdpa)(bpypa)] n (3) were obtained by solvothermal reactions of Zn(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O with 3,3Ј-thiodipropionic acid (H 2 tdpa) and corresponding N-donor ligands, namely, trans-1,2-bis(4-pyridyl)ethylene (bpe), 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane (bpp), and 4,4Ј-bis(4-pyridyl)diphenylamine (bpypa) respectively. Complexes 1-3 were characterized by elemental analysis, IR spectroscopy, as well as powder and single-cr… Show more

“…For copper complexes, Cu(Oac) 2 ·H 2 O, [ 56 ] Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·3H 2 O, [ 57 ] Cu(NO 3 ) 2 ·8H 2 O, [ 58 ] Cu(ClO 4 ) 2 ·6H 2 O [ 8 ], CuCl 2 ·2H 2 O [ 59 ], and Cu 2 (OH) 2 CO 3 [ 60 ]. Zn(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O [ 61 ], ZnSO 4 ·7H 2 O [ 62 ], ZnCl 2 [ 63 ], and Zn(Oac) 2 ·4H 2 O are used as a zinc precursor [ 64 ]. The precursor of nickel is Ni(NO 3 ) 2 ·6H 2 O [ 65 ], NiCl 2 ·6H 2 O [ 40 , 66 ], and Ni(Oac) 2 ·4H 2 O.…”

“…A small number of zinc complexes prepared and structurally characterized so far with 3,3′-thiodipropionic acid and N donor ligands, together with their donor set and coordination polyhedra, are listed in Table 6 . Complexes with bipyridyl ligands have interesting structures and are described below, along with an additional coordination polymer [ 61 , 91 ].…”

“…The Zn-O (Zn-N) bond lengths from 2.0986 to 2.1360 Å (2.161 Å) fall in the range of those of Zn II compounds. [22][23][24][25] In contrast with compound 1, adjacent Zn II atoms are bridged by four atzpa ligands by the nitrogen atom of the tetrazolyl ring and the oxygen atom of the carboxylate group. Compound 2 displays a beaded one-dimensional chain structure with Zn•••Zn distances of 9.1702 Å and Zn•••Zn•••Zn bite angles of 180°.…”

“…[22] Typically, zinc(II) compounds with central d 10 metal atoms are universally acknowledged as outstanding luminescence material and a majority of the compounds have been reported. [23][24][25] Inspired by the observations above, Zn IItetrazole-carboxylate compounds derived from 5-aminotetrazole-1-propanoic acid (Hatzpa) (Scheme 1) were investigated. Structurally speaking, Hatzpa is likely to display different coordination modes, the -CH 2 -spacer between the tetrazole ring and the carboxylate offers flexible orientation of the carboxylate group, allowing the formation of various frameworks.…”

“…Several unique structural motifs and desirable functional properties, which cannot be obtained when only one type of ligand is used, can be conferred with the use of these N-donor ligands. Three zinc CPs were constructed with the use of 3,3'thiodipropionic acid and three different pyridyl ligand [10]. CPs with dimensionalities ranging from 1D chain, 2D layer to 3D framework were obtained with the use of 1,3-bis(4-pyridyl)propane flexible ligands and 1,2-phenylenediacetic acid [11].…”
