Three Degrees of Freedom Global Calibration Method for Measurement Systems with Binocular Vision

Abstract: We develop a new method to globally calibrate the feature points that are derived from the binocular systems at different positions. A three-DOF (degree of freedom) global calibration system is established to move and rotate the 3D calibration board to an arbitrary position. A three-DOF global calibration model is constructed for the binocular systems at different positions. The three-DOF calibration model unifies the 3D coordinates of the feature points from different binocular systems into a unique world coo… Show more

“…For a 3D point X in the world coordinate system, the 2D projective point x in the captured image is expressed by 20 , 21 where P = A CI [R WC t WC ] is the transform matrix from the world coordinate system to the image coordinate system and calibrated by the 3D reference 20 . A CI = [A ij ] 3×3 is the intrinsic matrix of the camera.…”

“…The dual-line array CCD intersection measurement technique is a commonly employed non-contact measurement method, characterized by its simple measurement principle [4] , engineering feasibility, high measurement accuracy, and capability to measure multiple targets [5]. In order to enhance the output precision of the dual-line array camera collimation measurement system, this study undertakes a constructional investigation of the said system [6]. By conducting theoretical analysis and simulations on the measurement errors of projectile impact positions, this study places a focus on analyzing the magnitudes and trends of error influences stemming from each error-inducing factor on the measurement of impact point coordinates [7] .…”

“…As a result, it has an influence on the versatility of the method. In multi-vision, the calibration between cameras is the key link, which determines the accuracy of measurements [ 43 ]. The commonly used calibration methods include the Zhang Zhengyou calibration method, Direct Linear Transformation (DLT) method, and so on, among which the Zhang Zhengyou calibration method is widely used because of its ease of operation and accuracy.…”
