Three-Dimensional Glass Furnace Model of Combustion Space and Glass Tank with Electric Boosting

Abstract: The integrated glass furnace model of combustion space and glass tank is established to study the 600 t/d float glass furnaces with and without electric boosting system. In the electric boosting furnace, the electrodes are vertically installed near hot spot, and the electric power is applied to replace part of fuel supply. The temperature and velocity fields as well as glass trajectories are presented to investigate the influence of electric boosting on the glass furnace. The residence time, melting factor and… Show more

“…The detailed operating parameters of float glass furnace with and without electric boosting are descripted in the previous work. 17 The threedimensional schematic of float glass furnace is illustrated in Figure 1A, whereas Figure 1B shows the top view (xy section) of glass melting tank. The inner layer of glass melting tank is made of refractory materials, for example, 33# AZS and 41# AZS.…”

“…In the previous work, the model of fossil fuel float furnace is validated, which shows good accuracy. 17 In this work, the glass furnaces with varied electric boosting parameters are simulated as the natural gas of 4500 m 3 /h (at 1 atm and 15 • C) is provided to the combustion chamber, and the electricity of 4500 kW is supplied to the electrodes in glass melting tank.…”

“…The validation of the basic glass furnace refers to the previous work. 13 In basic case, the melting capacity of glass furnace is 600 t/d with the total fuel supply of 100%. In series 1, the melting capacity of glass furnace increases to 650 t/d and the fuel supply in each port evenly increases from 100% to 108.3%.…”
