Abstract:Plasma high-speed jets are common in Earth’s magnetosheath, and they significantly perturb the magnetosheath and affect the magnetosphere. The space environment of Mercury, characterized by the bow shock, magnetosheath, and magnetosphere, shares many similarities with that of Earth, so high-speed jets may also be formed in Mercury’s magnetosheath. Here we examine the formation of magnetosheath jets using a three-dimensional global hybrid simulation. The simulation results demonstrate that magnetosheath jets ma… Show more

scite is a Brooklyn-based organization that helps researchers better discover and understand research articles through Smart Citations–citations that display the context of the citation and describe whether the article provides supporting or contrasting evidence. scite is used by students and researchers from around the world and is funded in part by the National Science Foundation and the National Institute on Drug Abuse of the National Institutes of Health.
