Three-dimensional optical high-resolution profiler with a large observation field: foot arch behavior under low static charge studies

Abstract: Our aim is to describe a method for detecting small deformations from a three-dimensional (3D) shape of large lateral dimensions. For this purpose the measurement method is based on the simultaneous utilization of several 3D optical systems and the phase-shifting technique. In this way, the following problems appear: optical distortion due to the large field observed, nonlinear phase-to-height conversion, conversion of image coordinates into object coordinates for each 3D optical system, and coordinate unifica… Show more

“…3D laser scanner technology is wildly applied in various fields [16-19]. Recently, a 3D scanner was used to measure foot behavior [16,20,21], although only 2D parameters were discussed, including the forefoot varus angles and foot dimensions, and only a few studies have used 3D parameters to describe the foot arch, and thus establishing 3D parameters to assess the foot arch is a critical issue.…”

“…Fringe projection systems consist on projecting parallel fringes or regular patterns on the surface of an object, and taking measurements of the deformation of the lines or patterns, or measurements of the phase shift produced by the surface in the pattern signal, when using interferometry. This technique has been used for the reconstruction of 3-D surfaces in medicine [8] and in industrial applications [9].…”

“…Il y a donc une différence fondamentale entre un pied souple, changeant de forme à l'appui, et un pied raide, présentant dans sa forme caricaturale des reliefs plantaires exposés et figés. Cela est une application directe d'une des propriétés biomécaniques fondamentales du pied, sa viscoélasticité [1]. À l'occasion d'un appui, ces reliefs au lieu de s'esquiver deviennent des zones « de contact et pivotement » par rapport au reste de la plante du pied.…”
