Three on Three Optimizer: A New Metaheuristic with Three Guided Searches and Three Random Searches

Abstract: This paper presents a new swarm intelligencebased metaheuristic called a three-on-three optimizer (TOTO). This name is chosen based on its novel mechanism in adopting multiple searches into a single metaheuristic. These multiple searches consist of three guided searches and three random searches. These three guided searches are searching toward the global best solution, searching for the global best solution to avoid the corresponding agent, and searching based on the interaction between the corresponding agen… Show more

“…Some metaheuristics utilized their member as metaphors, such as three influential member-based optimizations (TIMBO) [19], multileader optimization (MLO) [20], mixed leader-based optimization (MLBO) [21], hybrid leader-based optimization (HLBO) [22], and so on. Some metaheuristics do not use any metaphor for their name, such as total interaction algorithm (TIA) [23], golden search optimization (GSO) [24], three-on-three optimizer (TOTO) [25], multiple interaction optimizer (MIO) [26], attack leave optimization (ALO) [27], average subtraction-based optimization (ASBO) [28], particle swarm optimization (PSO) [29], and so on.…”

“…Fortunately, some shortcomings of metaheuristics do not use a metaphor. Some of these metaheuristics are average subtraction-based optimizer (ASBO) [26], golden search optimizer (GSO) [27], total interaction algorithm (TIA) [28], and three on three optimizers (TOTO) [29]. As metaphor-free metaheuristics, their name represents their novel strategy directly.…”

“…SIAs on the other hand are based on the swarming behaviour of various animal species, and some of the algorithms include naked mole-rat algorithm (NMRA) [3] based on the mating patterns of naked mole-rats, grey wolf optimizer (GWO) [4] based on swarming behaviour of grey wolves found in nature. Other algorithms include sine cosine algorithm (SCA) [5], Harris Hawks Optimization (HHO) [6], Aquila Optimizer [7], guided pelican algorithm (GPA) [8], Stochastic Komodo Algorithm (SKA) [9], Fixed-Step Average and Subtraction-Based Optimizer (FS-ASBO) [10], Attack-Leave algorithm (ALA) [11], quad tournament optimizer (QTO) [12], Multiple Interaction Optimizer (MIO) [13] and others.…”
