Three rare heteromultinuclear 3d‐4f salamo‐like complexes constructed from auxiliary ligand 4,4′‐bipy: Syntheses, structural characterizations, fluorescence and antimicobial properties

Abstract: Three rare heteromultinuclear complexes, ∞[NiL(4,4′‐bipy)Pr (NO3)3]·(CH3)2CHOH (1), [{CuLSm (NO3)3}2(4,4′‐bipy)]·CH3OH (2) and [{CuL (CH3CH2OH)Eu (NO3)3] (3) with a symmetrical salamo‐like hexadentate ligand H2L have been synthesized, and characterized by FT‐IR, UV–vis and X‐ray crystallography. Complex 1 is a 1D coordination polymer constructed from heterobimetallic [Ni(L)Pr (NO3)3] units which are connected by the exo‐dentate ligand 4,4′‐bipy bearing nitrogen‐donor atoms. Complex 2 is a heterotetranuclear di… Show more

A group of Ni(II)-Pr(III) compounds consisting of 21 heterometallic clusters, which are mainly based on Schiff base, salen, and other phenolate ligands, has been reported. A large family of Mn(II/III)-Ln(III) heterometallic clusters dominated by heteroleptic Schiff, Mannich base-carboxylate, and nitrate derivatives has also been reported. Another group of Mn(II/III)-Ln(III) compounds consisting of various alkoxide-carboxylate-nitrate derivatives has been reported, i.e., [Ln 4 Mn 8 (μ 3 -O) 8 (hmp) 4 (benz) 12 (NO 3 ) 4 (benzH)(EtOH)] (Ln = La, Pr, Nd, Gd, Dy; and benz = benzoate), [Ln 2 Mn 4 (μ 4 -O) 2 (H 2 edte) 2 (piv/benz) 8‑ x (NO 3 ) x ] (H 2 edte = N , N , N ′, N ′-tetrakis(2-hydroxyethyl)ethylenediamine); (Ln = La, Ce, Pr, Nd, Eu, Sm, Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho, Er, Tm, Yb, and Y, and x = 0, 2) . The presence of NO 3 – or RCOO – ligands in the lanthanide coordination sphere arose from the synthesis method applied, which involved the use of Mn(OOCR) 2 and Ln(NO) 3 as regents and amines to deprotonate the phenolic ligands.…”

“…“Salen-type” ligands are a class of coordination compounds produced when a bisaldehyde condenses with a diamine. The introduction of large electronegative oxygen atoms to the CN–group of salen-type ligands results in salamo-type probes with improved coordination flexibility, structural stability, high selectivity, and sensitivity. Based on this background, Guo et al prepared a rigid structured fluorescent probe 1 with naphthol units and π-conjugation for dual-channel detection of H 2 S . The sensor worked in a wide pH range of 4–9 with a response time of <3 s. The deprotonation of the hydroxyl groups hindered the ICT in the probe in the presence of H 2 S, which resulted in vivid changes in the FL intensity, facilitating the detection of the biothiol.…”
