“…Children with cancer suffer from psychosocial aspects of the disease and on‐treatment (Enskär & von Essen ), and they express a wish for recreational activities on the ward, such as relaxation and amusement opportunities, which they believe will improve their health (Einberg et al., ). Our findings show that childhood activities and icons are popular on the paediatric ward and they can be viewed as providing children with favourable opportunities to bear, cope with and escape from the distress of treatment.…”
