Time delay of global warming

Abstract: Thermal response of Earth's climate to atmospheric GHGs is delayed in time. The magnitude of time delay can significantly exceed several decades, while current thermal imbalance of Earth is likely to amount 0.6 K but it can increase to 5 K by 2100. The paper provides modelling analysis of dynamical behaviour of global warming and presents climatic hysteresis diagrams. Transient simulations reveal that time delay depends on Earth's thermal capacity and mass, and on conductive and convective heat transport. It i… Show more

“…Overall, the trends detected by the MK test, Sen's slope estimator and HLTM are in agreement with the findings of previous studies. The rate of warming in Malaysia became significant after the year 1971 and the effect of global warming can be delayed for at least 10 years [17,18]. Therefore, it is reasonable that the pan evaporation rate started to exhibit drastic changes after the millennium.…”

“…Therefore, it is of paramount importance that we discuss, monitor and make sure that the climate for different regions remains at its natural range. Many literatures suggest that global warming caused by the global warming gases emitted enormously by the manufacturing factories and automobiles industries are the cause of erratic climate [1][2][3][4][5][6]. Global warming if unchecked will influence the climate of world to the point that earth tipping point is reached, where the surviving earth cannot further sustain any lives in it, changing the course of history preceded by mass extinction of species in the world.…”

“…Moreover, changes in the atmospheric CO 2 content translate into rise of the mean atmospheric temperature with large time delay. Hence, the Earth's thermal response lags behind the CO 2 rise by as much as several decades (Budzianowski, 2011f). Today thermal imbalance of Earth due to Greenhouse Gases (GHG) present in the atmosphere is estimated to be around +0.6 K, but it can sharply rise in near future as signifi cant amounts of CO 2 are irreversibly emitted into the atmosphere each year (Budzianowski, 2011f).…”

Consequently, legal activities coordinated by United Nations are urgently needed to mitigate the climate change (UN, 1992;UN, 1998).…”
