Time-Domain Iterative Physical Optics Method for Analysis of Em Scattering From the Target Half Buried in Rough Surface: Pec Case

et al.

Abstract: Abstract-In this paper, time-domain physical optics (TDPO) method is extended to its iterative version (TDIPO) to consider the coupling effects between two regions, and the latter is employed to investigate electromagnetic scattering from three dimensional target half-buried by a two dimensional rough surface. By using iterative scheme, more accurate transient response reflected from combinative target with multi-scattering effects would be obtained than that by using TDPO alone. The TDIPO could also be enhanc… Show more

“…Moreover, if the ground has a rough surface such as in the real field, or if part of a landmine is embedded in a rough surface, a reflection pattern from the ground, which is significantly different from that considered in this work, would be obtained. For this case, methods such as [59] and [60] needs to be taken into account in the proposed method. It is expected that if the proposed method is evaluated and refined through extensive tests with various landmines and ground conditions, the false alarm rate could be further reduced.…”

“…This concept is valid and accurate for metallic scatterer surfaces and gives exact geometric optics (GO) waves in the high frequencies. There are lots of studies in the literature about the application of the PO method [1][2][3]. The edge diffracted fields which are found from the contribution of the PO surface integral are not correct.…”

“…The purpose of this paper is efficiency and accuracy in calculating the bistatic scattering from 2D PEC rough surface by the HMOM based on the previous work [13,[19][20][21][22] of our research teams. To our knowledge, this is the first time that the HMOM is introduced to calculate the BSC of rough surface, and the BSC is obtained and compared to that of LMOM with RWG or rooftop basis function to verify the validity.…”
