“…Instead, women with lower time devoted to exercise present few differences between younger and older age groups. These results confirm the decline found in exercise throughout their life (Casado‐Pérez et al, 2015; Caspersen et al, 2000; Milanović et al, 2013; Telama & Yang, 2000), with men presenting a greater decline than women. Furthermore, the results focus on adolescence as a crucial developmental stage in the acquisition and maintenance of healthy habits, where exercise should be recognized by its impact on the health of subsequent evolutionary stages in people's lives (Daw, Margolis, & Verdery, 2015; Telama et al, 2005).…”

“…The practice of exercise has been reported to be a beneficial aspect in every developmental period in human life, but studies show that this practice declines from childhood to old age (Caspersen, Pereira, & Curran, 2000). This decline is more evident when comparing specific developmental stages such as the early and late elderly stages (Casado‐Pérez et al, 2015; Milanović et al, 2013) or adolescence and young adulthood (Telama & Yang, 2000). It seems evident that the benefits of exercise increase with practice.…”

“…Specifically, lower body strength was already low at the age of 65 [ 38 ]. It appears that there is an increase in PA among seniors in the last decade in both the United States [ 37 , 39 , 40 ] and Spain [ 41 – 43 ]. However, around 85% of senior people of both sexes did not meet the recommended 75 min/wk of vigorous-intensity PA in our study.…”

“…Las participantes de nivel aceptable reportaron edad similar y mayor escolaridad que las de nivel de AF bajo. Por otro lado, Casado-Pérez et al (2015) también reportaron que a partir de los 65 años se presenta una disminución paulatina de la AF en adultos mayores de España. Pudiera ser que el lugar de donde se seleccionó la muestra de este estudio haya influido este resultado contrastante, la asistencia a la casa club representa un factor protector característico de esta muestra.…”
