Tin Oxide (SnO2) Nanoparticles: Facile Fabrication, Characterization, and Application in UV Photodetectors

Abstract: Tin oxide (SnO2) nanomaterials are of great interest in many fields such as catalytic, electrochemical, and biomedical applications, due to their low cost, suitable stability characteristics, high photosensitivity, etc. In this contribution, SnO2 NPs were facilely fabricated by calcination of tin (II) oxalate in air, followed by a liquid-phase exfoliation (LPE) method. Size-selected SnO2 NPs were easily obtained using a liquid cascade centrifugation (LCC) technique. The as-obtained SnO2 NPs displayed strong ab… Show more

“…Three months later, I ph decreases to 28.83 μA, which maintains 82.6% of the initial value (34.92 μA/cm 2 ), revealing the good long-term stability of In 2 O 3 MR PEC PDs. The long-term stability of In 2 O 3 MR PEC PDs is better than most reported PEC PDs, such as SnO 2 nanoparticles (72.4% remaining after 1 month), BP nanosheets (17% remaining after 1 month), and Bi quantum dots (43% remaining after 1 month) . Moreover, In 2 O 3 MR PEC PDs still show valid switching behaviors after 90 days storage, further indicating their good long-term stability.…”

“…Tin oxide (SnO 2 ) exhibits a large band gap n-type semiconductor nature, which then makes it suitable for various technological applications in various fields, including infrared detectors, solid state gas sensors, photodetectors optical devices, and heat reflecting mirrors. 278–281 The piezoelectric properties of the pristine SnO 2 -based nanostructures are rarely reported. The SnO 2 nanostructures were recently reported as reinforcement materials to fabricate a piezoelectric nanocomposite nanogenerator.…”
