Tissue discrimination by laser-induced fluorescence method

Abstract

On the basis of the differentiation of molecular structures between healthy and diseased tissue, spectroscopic information could be used for tissue discrimination. The experimental results on laser induced fluorescence of atherosclerotic deposits through the new exogenous photosensitizer Hypocrellin A (HA) was reported and algorithms implemented to on the arterial fluorescence spectra has been developed to be capable of discriminating normal from atherosclerotic tissue in this paper, indicating that Hypocrellin (HA) could be used as a clinical probe for both atherosclerotic lesions. Better discriminatory effect was found on fatty and calcified tissue.
