Tissue donation and transplantation program in Sri Lanka : a medico-legal point of view

Abstract: Tissue donation and organ transplantation plays a key role in the management of the critically ill patient. The harvesting of organs for transplantation is done according to the legal framework of the country and based on circulars, protocols and guidelines of health and legal authorities. Clear knowledge regarding medico-legal issues and ethical aspects are mandatory for an effective transplantation program.
