Abstract:Periodontal diseases and Thalassemia Major (TM), which are two chronic inflammatory diseases, are associated with increased levels of proinflammatory cytokines in bio-fluids. Interleukin (IL)-6 and IL-8 have been identified as potent proinflammatory biomarkers in periodontal diseases as well as in patients with β-thalassemia (TM-β).
