The author presents linguoculturology as an integrative science in a historical perspective. The paper aims at analyzing some achievements of linguoculturology, the current stage in its development and its development prospects. The author pays significant attention to the scientific heritage of V.N. Teliya – the founder of the given research area. The article establishes as well as gives a brief analysis of the main research directions. The author focuses particularly on psycholinguoculturology (PLC) as a new discipline. The article analyzes from the standpoint of PLC the phenomenon of the basic metaphor UP on the material of the Russian linguoculture. The author makes an attempt to show – on the basis of data from various sciences – the universal nature of the basic metaphor under consideration and some of the main possible ways of its realization. The author considers the basic units in which this metaphor in the Russian linguoculture is verbalized.

This is one of the prerequisites to "grasp the native's point of view, his relation to life, to realize his vision of his world" (Senft, 2020). Sesaji Rewanda tradition is a ceremonial ritual performed by the Gunungpati community in Goa Kreo which is an annual event on the fifth day of Shawwal a month in the Islamic calendar. The ritual ceremony of Sesaji Rewanda is a symbol of respect for the ancestors of the monkeys who had helped Sunan Kalijaga when taking teak wood to be used as the main pillar of the 'saka guru' at the Great Mosque of Demak. This study used descriptive methods with qualitative study forms. The data collection in this study utilized participation observation techniques, in-depth interviews, library studies, and documents. The data obtained were analyzed with an ethnolinguistic approach, then the data analysis technique was completed by ethnographic analysis methods covering domains, taxonomy, and components. In addition, informal and formal methods were applied in presenting data. The results of the study obtained the use of the term in the tradition of Sesaji Rewanda in Gunungpati. The terms used in traditional rituals are classified in monomorphemic and polymorphemic forms (fixation and composition). Through an ethnolinguistic approach, the traditional term Sesaji Rewanda contains lexical and cultural meanings. The mindset of the Gunungpati community is reflected in the terms used in the ritual tradition of Sesaji Rewanda. The use of terms in the lexicon of Sesaji Rewanda can be put as a guide or paradigm of life in behaving and living by the Gunungpati community.

Awareness of cultural specificity in current classroom discourse is particularly important in an educational setting that has become largely multicultural due to globalization, migration and academic mobility. Drawing on the intercultural and cross-cultural pragmatics, and cultural studies, this paper explores the speech act of critical remark in Russian and Israeli classroom settings, focusing on students’ view of its degree of conventionality and admissibility. Data were obtained from a student survey questionnaire (undertaken between 2017-2019). Highlighting similarities and differences, we argue that both Russian and Israeli classroom settings exhibit critical remark as not uncommon, though varying in acceptability. Findings show that critical acts need not be limited to the merely conflictual, but may even be perceived positively, and may moreover exert varying levels of illocutionary force and be interpreted differently by different cultural groups.
