To the knowledge of digger wasps (Hymenoptera: Crabronidae) of Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan

Abstract: The data on 187 species of 42 genera of digger wasps of the family Crabronidae collected in Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic of Azerbaijan in 2018-2019 are given. Of them, 116 species are recorded for the fauna of Azerbaijan for the first time. Now 231 species of Crabronidae are known from this country. A new synonymy is proposed: Ectemnius persicus (Kohl, 1888) = E. walteri (Kohl, 1889), syn. n. Redescription of female and description of hitherto unknown male of Oxybelus latifrons Kohl, 1892 are given.

“…Digger wasps of the genus Harpactus Shuckard, 1837 are represented by 73 species occurring in Afrotropical, Holarctic and Oriental zoogeographical regions. Six species are known from the Nakhchivan Autonomous Republic, Azerbaijan (Mokrousov et al, 2019). Morphologically, the genus is well separated in the subtribe Gorytina (Bohart & Menke, 1974;Nemkov & Lelej, 2013), but the species require revision.…”

“…But in last two years significant progress has been made towards a better knowledge of the species of digger wasps from this territory. After the publication of Mokrousov et al [2019], the number of known species of the family Crabronidae increased to 231. However, the fauna of the family Sphecidae remains poorly known.…”
