“…Minor or major symptoms from the aneurysm were observed in 26 recent patients (Table 3) and of these 16 died, 12 from rupture, one from aortic thrombosis, and 3 from respiratory failure. Hoarseness has frequently been reported and is presumably caused by stretching of the recurrent laryngeal nerve by the enlarging aneurysm (6,10,21,28,30,50).
