“…Minor or major symptoms from the aneurysm were observed in 26 recent patients (Table 3) and of these 16 died, 12 from rupture, one from aortic thrombosis, and 3 from respiratory failure. Hoarseness has frequently been reported and is presumably caused by stretching of the recurrent laryngeal nerve by the enlarging aneurysm (6,10,21,28,30,50). This symptom was present only in one of our 5 patients.…”
