Topological self-dual configurations in a Maxwell–Higgs model with a CPT-odd and Lorentz-violating nonminimal coupling

Abstract: We have studied the existence of topological self-dual configurations in a nonminimal CPT-odd and Lorentzviolating (LV) Maxwell-Higgs model, where the LV interaction is introduced by modifying the minimal covariant derivative. The Bogomol'nyi-Prasad-Sommerfield formalism has been implemented, revealing that the scalar self-interaction implying self-dual equations contains a derivative coupling. The CPT-odd self-dual equations describe electrically neutral configurations with finite total energy proportional to… Show more

“…Furthermore, it is important to highlight that the approach applied in the present work can be very powerful to investigate different subjects, such as the generation of coherent structures after cosmic inflation [34], the dynamics of oscillons configurations [35][36][37], braneworld theories with internal structure [38][39][40], the nonlinear sigma model [41], Lorentz and symmetry breaking systems [42,43], and alternative theories of gravity [44,45].…”

“…[] and references therein). In particular, some works have explored topological defects in the presence of LSV . For instance, we can find investigations using monopole and vortices, in a gauged O (3) sigma model, on topological defects generated by two real scalar fields, in the propagation of electromagnetic waves, and in traveling solitons systems …”

“…In this context we also point out that an Abelian Higgs model with a Lorentz-breaking term has been considered in refs. [26][27][28], where aspects of causality, unitarity, spontaneous gauge-symmetry breaking, and vortex formation were investigated. As a result, it was shown that unitarity is always violated for an external vector time-like or null.…”
