Torque ripple minimization with modified comparator in DTC based three‐level five‐phase inverter fed five‐phase induction motor

Abstract: The proposed technology deals with the reduction in torque ripple of five-phase induction motor. The machine is controlled by direct torque control technique and fed by three-level five-phase inverter (TL-FPI). In the fraternity of multiphase induction motor, five phase is the most researched drive, considering complexity of control mechanism and advantages which multiphase machine has offered. The selection of TL-FPI is based on availability of more voltage vectors ( 243) than two-level five-phase inverter (3… Show more

“…6 Due to their considerable advantages over all these machines, such as power segmentation, high reliability, and reduction of current harmonics, multiphase machines have recently been the subject of several studies on their integration into WPGS. [7][8][9][10][11][12] Among the different types of existing multiphase machines, the double stator asynchronous generator (DSAG) is the most used in this kind of applications.…”

“…Continuous developments in the field of power electronics have prompted researchers to use three-level inverter topologies in controlling IM drives. The increase in level number can resolve efficiently torque and flux ripples, as well as current distortion, in the DTC strategy when compared to conventional ones [24,25].…”

“…In the past years, the use of multiphase electric motors has emerged as a promising solution for the problem of developing highly efficient and fault-tolerant traction systems for electric vehicles (EVs) (Chikonda et al, 2021;Tatte, 2021;Salehifar et al, 2015;Arashloo et al, 2019). Multiphase motors have been used for long in applications where high power and high torque are needed (Echeikh et al, 2018(Echeikh et al, , 2016Martin et al, 2016).…”
