Tourism and internet adoption: a developing world perspective

Abstract: This paper provides a new perspective of the realities faced by small tourism enterprises in the developing world. Karanasios and Burgess (2008), based on a qualitative survey conducted on two developing countries (Malaysia and Ecuador) found that the main obstacles faced by travel companies in making use of the web include a focus on local customers who prefer the use of telephone to bargain on prices.
