Toward Model Building for Visual Aesthetic Perception

Abstract: Several models of visual aesthetic perception have been proposed in recent years. Such models have drawn on investigations into the neural underpinnings of visual aesthetics, utilizing neurophysiological techniques and brain imaging techniques including functional magnetic resonance imaging, magnetoencephalography, and electroencephalography. The neural mechanisms underlying the aesthetic perception of the visual arts have been explained from the perspectives of neuropsychology, brain and cognitive science, in… Show more

“…The present review article discusses the two most related visual aesthetics models: Chatterjee's model of the neural underpinnings of visual aesthetics and the model of aesthetic appreciation and aesthetic judgment [ 18 ]. These two models are the most suitable and related to aesthetic processing on UX design and clearly show the initial, the intermediate, and the overall aesthetic process for designing visual interaction projects.…”

“…Liu's research explained the principle of subjective perception in the translation of objective environmental information of landscapes. He established a quantitative assessment standard and index system and proposed a technical method for measuring and simulating landscape openness and serene ranking (Liu et al, 2017). This work plays an important role in the further construction of a multi-level weight evaluation system.…”

“…It is known that any visual stimulus has a cognitive effect in the receiver and can induce emotional responses [1,2]. However, the mechanisms that underlie these processes are still largely unknown, making it difficult to find an automatic computational solution to the problem, despite the currently proposed methods [3].…”
