Towards a Cascading Reasoning Framework to Support Responsive Ambient-Intelligent Healthcare Interventions

Abstract: In hospitals and smart nursing homes, ambient-intelligent care rooms are equipped with many sensors. They can monitor environmental and body parameters, and detect wearable devices of patients and nurses. Hence, they continuously produce data streams. This offers the opportunity to collect, integrate and interpret this data in a context-aware manner, with a focus on reactivity and autonomy. However, doing this in real time on huge data streams is a challenging task. In this context, cascading reasoning is an e… Show more

“…With the recent advancement in the IoT landscape, various web-based applications could be used to distribute and process information via the Internet and the wireless home network connected to different home appliances and sensors. Recently, the term 'smart home' has been more interchangeably used with 'home automation' with an aim to enhance quality of life and personal wellbeing using automatic voice detection [20][21][22]. Some home automation systems have been developed with specific objectives such as improving energy-efficiency, safety and home protection from intruders.…”

“…Embedded Context Prediction (ECP): for the fabrication of context-aware (CA) medical health-care applications on IoT network, third-party designers require bland systems with appropriate components which are known as ECP service. A similar arrangement is produced in [43] with regards to pervasive health-care. Several challenges in CA health-care system are investigated in [44].…”
