Towards a Dynamical Understanding of the Non-DD¯Decay ofψ(3770)

Abstract: We investigate the psi(3770) non-DD decays into VP, where V and P denote vector and pseudoscalar mesons, respectively, via Okubo-Zweig-Iizuka-rule-evading intermediate meson rescatterings in an effective Lagrangian theory. By identifying the leading meson loop transitions and constraining the model parameters with the available experimental data for psi(3770)-->J/psieta, phieta, and rhopi, we succeed in making a quantitative prediction for all psi(3770)-->VP with BRVP from 0.41% to 0.64%. It indicates that the… Show more

“…As we will demonstrate the explicit calculation supports the scale arguments presented above, that heavy meson loops are highly suppressed for the reactions under consideration. We also checked that the results are consistent with a calculation using the ELA [2,6,7] -details will be presented elsewhere [28]. In Section IV, the results for the decay widths are given.…”

“…For instance, using an effective Lagrangian approach (ELA), the intermediate meson loop contributions are found to be essential for understanding the puzzling ψ(3770) non-DD decays [2,3]. They are also important in the J/ψ decays into a vector and a pseudoscalar mesons [4] and in the M 1 radiative transitions between two charmonia [5].…”

“…Contributions of the color octet mechanism (COM) [1] to decays of P-wave heavy quarkonia have been proposed for more than two decades, and many theoretical predictions for exclusive χ cJ decays to baryon anti-baryon pairs [2][3][4] have been made. However, there are large differences between predictions and the experimental measurements, e.g., the branching fractions (BF) of χ c0 → Σ þΣ− and Σ 0Σ0 decays as measured by CLEO-c [5] and BESIII [6] are observed to violate the helicity selection rule from perturbative QCD (pQCD) [7][8][9] and also do not agree with models based on the charm meson loop mechanism [3,10,11]. Further tests of the COM using more decay channels are thus an important input for the development of the theoretical models.…”
