Towards a Library of “Early‐Late” Ti–Ru Bimetallic Complexes

Abstract: A series of new titanocene phosphanes 3-6 have been prepared by replacing both chloride atoms at the titanium atom of the complexes [TiCl 2 (η 5 -C 5 H 5 ){η 5 -C 5 H 4 (CH 2 ) 2 PR 2 }] (1: R = Ph; 2: R = Cy) by sodium fluoride or sodium benzoate in twophase systems. Treatment of these new metalloligands with the binuclear complex [(p-cymene)RuCl 2 ] 2 affords the targeted titanocene difluoride and titanocene dibenzoate bime-

“…The Ru II centre is pseudotetrahedral in geometry with typical Ru-Cl and Ru-P bond lengths. [37] The P···P separation in 13·2CH 2 Cl 2 is 4.516 Å and similar to that found in 10·CH 2 Cl 2 ·0.5C 4 H 10 O. Balakrishna and co-workers recently reported the synthesis of heterotrinuclear Pd/Au 2 , Pt/ Au 2 and Cu/Au 2 complexes using a cyclodiphosphazane ligand. [38] …”

“…Organometallic complexes, and in particular metallocenes containing additional organic groups, have recently attracted considerable interest . This has been especially so when both the metal and the organic fragment are able to bind and recognize other molecular entities or to mediate reactivity.…”
