Towards an autonomic performance management approach for a cloud broker environment using a decomposition–coordination based methodology

Abstract: Efficient resource allocation of computational resources to services is one of the predominant challenges in a cloud computing environment. Furthermore, the advent of cloud brokerage and federated cloud computing systems increases the complexity of cloud resource management. Cloud brokers are considered third party organizations that work as intermediaries between the service providers and the cloud providers. Cloud brokers rent different types of cloud resources from a number of cloud providers and sublet the… Show more

“…Assim esses autores propõem gerenciar os processos de negócios baseados em Serviços (Service-based Business Processes -SBPs) de forma elástica. Outros autores afirmam que a alocação de recursos computacionais para serviços de forma eficiente e um desafio existente no ambiente de computação em nuvem [22]. A solução desse problema proposta por autores é a utilização um corretor de nuvens (Cloud Broker) para o gerenciamento de desempenho em nuvem federada.…”

“…The method was also evaluated on Google cluster trace comprising 12,000 machines. Reference [30] developed a distributed control algorithm-based approach for performance management of services hosted in distributed cloud broker environments. Their research effort introduced a novel negotiation approach between the broker and the various cloud providers for optimised allocation of resources through interactive bidding in cloud computing environment.…”

“…With the advance in computer science and mathematical programming techniques, MPC has made the design of an automated and efficient performance management framework possible for a wide range of power system applications [5][6] [7]. The interest of applying MPC in both academia and industrial practice is constantly driven by the fact that today's system is more complex than ever, therefore it is more difficult to maintain the system in admissible operating region with tight performance specifications while satisfying a variety of regulations and constraints due to environmental, productivity and safety considerations.…”
