Abstract. In an highly dynamic social and business environment time becomes one of the most treasured recourses of companies and individuals. However, there are no many research works devoted to explicit analysis of time issues. Therefore, despite of a large number of enterprise and business process representation and analysis tools, it is still impossible to address time to full extent in systems modeling and analysis. This paper proposes linkage between enterprise architecture, process, and time models to promote development of methods for managing time issues in systems development, maintenance and change management. The linkage roots in Bunge's systems ontology and concerns time ontology edited by Hobbs and Pan. Keywords: Upper ontology · Enterprise architecture · Business process · Time ontology IntroductionTime is one of the most treasured resources in highly dynamic business environment. Time also becomes an important issue in development of different information technology solutions, because their impact on users' time shall be considered. For instance, by development of information systems for administrative purposes the time of administration is saved, however the time of other employees might be misused to such an extent that the new administrative information system causes losses instead of benefits in the company in terms of financial resources, job satisfaction, and ability to serve the customers of the company. On the other hand, often the business is run on the global scale and companies from different time zones have to cooperate in providing services and products to their customers. This means that their business process management systems must be supported by information technology solutions that can easily calculate process parameters taking into consideration time zone differences with respect to the current geographical location of the companies and temporal locations of their employees. We assume that, to ensure good possibility to analyze time issues, it is necessary to develop the following two approaches:• The approach how to model time as one of the sub-models of enterprise architecture.• The approach how to relate time model to other models of the enterprise architecture, especially to the business process model.

This paper discusses early findings of the research in progress to create an approach to support an organization in bridging the gap between existing business processes and policies. Business processes are valuable assets of any organization, and business process modelling has become the key activity for capturing and analysing business processes. However, advances in technology, growing expectation of openness by research funders, competition, regulations in IT security and privacy, and overall economic situation facilitate emergence of new policies, and urge enterprises to change their business processes to be compliant with the new requirements. The goal of the research is to propose the approach for closing the gap between business process models and legal states of business objects described in policies by means of using Bunge-Wand-Weber model. The approach includes means for explicit definition of legal and illegal state spaces of business objects in (1) policies, and (2) as-is business process models, and compliance checking between state spaces of (1) and (2) to indicate the gap. It is an initial input for building to-be business process models that are complaint with newly imposed policies. As a running example to illustrate the approach a publishing business process of a scholar journal is used. New policies from research funders require Open Access (OA) to all outputs from publiclyfunded research, and business processes of publishing scholar journals require changes.

The project management (PM) practices that characterize Project-Based Organizations (PBOs) are part of their core business processes. Moreover, some PBOs obtain their incomings by developing and delivering projects, such as construction companies. PBO's design and analysis have been developed from an organizational design perspective applying several frameworks such as Galbraiths' Star Model or McKinseys' 7S. For the same purpose, the systems thinking approach is also a suitable alternative for managing organizational complexity and computer-assisted business design and analysis. Within this perspective, the Enterprise Architecture (EA) managing tool has been widely applied in the information systems industry and, over time, has extended to other industries. EA is a group of principles, methods and models for designing and analyzing the enterprises' organizational structure, business processes, information systems and infrastructure. The use of EA as a management tool has the advantage of graphically showing the interrelationships between different components of an organization. Systems thinking has positioned itself as a suitable perspective for organizing PM knowledge, as shown in the last version of PMBOK (seventh). Following this trend, this research develops an EA model of a PBO and shows how the EA components can represent the specific PM artefacts displayed in a PBO. The obtained model and its completeness is evaluated using the Star Model framework. This work is expected to encourage analysts and project managers to opt for EA as a management and governance tool for their projects and the organizations that host them.
