Towards mobile process as a service

Abstract: Process as a Service (PaaS) addresses modeling, execution and management of business processes without running extensive and costly process management software. Such a flexible outsourcing strategy is especially advantageous in the context of mobile devices and services which are increasingly relevant for contemporary business activities. Based on the concept of context-based cooperation, this paper proposes a PaaS solution for mobile participants which enables them to share existing local and remote resources… Show more

“…Reported experiments show that the averaged accuracy of the heuristics was 0.958, and the false positive and false negative averaged rates of 0.036 and 0.052, respectively. All in all, the proposed heuristics represent an advance in the creation of Web Services that are easier to be understood and discovered, which by themselves symbolize the basic blocks for e-applications relying on the SOC paradigm or the new wave of serviceoriented software systems, such as Cloud Computing [22], SaaS or PaaS [23].…”

“…The corresponding execution engine is based on a modular architecture, but the functionalities provided by the core module deployable on PDAs or cell phones are limited to receiving, storing, and forwarding process descriptions, whereas the base module responsible for process executions requires a more powerful device. Recently, the DEMAC architecture evolved towards the provisioning of mobile process as a service , supporting the migration and execution of processes by involving mobile and stationary process engines. Process migration is a powerful feature currently not supported by ROME4EU, but the inability of executing processes on mobile devices and the need to specify exception handling strategies at design‐time represent limitations for the usage of DEMAC in an emergency management setting.…”
