Towards realizing robotic potential in future intelligent food manufacturing systems

Abstract: This paper provides a comprehensive review of the robotic potential that is forseen by researchers in designing future food manufacturing plant. The present day food handling and packaging setup is limited in capacity and output due to manual processing. An optimized protocol to fetch various ingrediants and shape them in a final product by passing through various stages in an automated processing plant while simultaneously ensuring high quality and hygienic environment is merely possible by using robotized pr… Show more

“…The price would high than the price in dairy cooperative because the coffee shop was the direct consumer. This result in agreement with Annosi et al (2018) and Khana et al (2019) which stated utilization industry 4.0 on marketing strategy would increase the revenue. Utilization of industry 4.0 would trigger the farmer to always maintain the quality of the product.…”

“…Some researches were done using industry 4.0 on agricultural sector (Depeyrot and Duval (2018); Larsen and Gilliland (2009); Koirala et al (2019); Roy et al (2019) and Ordolff (2001)). Khana et al (2019) stated utilization technology could improve food processing. Studman (2001) stated the internet can be used in many things, such as marketing.…”

“…At the same time, food processing is rather poorly covered by the development of CPS systems. Literature indicates a few scarce examples, where CPSs are applied in the form of wireless networks for bread manufacturing process optimization [9]; robotics for packaging, picking and placing, pelletizing, inspection, testing, and serving in restaurants [54,59]. Catering industry is more devoted to the application of smart and collaborative robots [1].…”

“…The role and qualities of a cobot are dependent on the peculiarity of the specific application; like a robot performing in an industry, it should possess different traits than one serving old or disabled people at home. 9 A similar concept of social robots in the food industry is presented in Khan et al 10 which describe their utility in the food industry ranging from service provision till production; this requires variant social skills such as social interaction and cleanliness. One of the basic elements of any social interaction among humans or animals is the assurance of safety from others.…”
