“…Many small‐scale fishers in the EU are therefore striving to maintain, or increase, their income using a range of business arrangements; in this respect, direct marketing arrangements can enhance the ex‐vessel value of seafood as well as the profitability of small‐scale fishers, through bypassing fish traders and capturing more of the value added obtained from the premium prices paid by customers who recognise the value of locally caught fish (Prosperi et al., 2019).
