“…Additionally, NAs other than MN were also induced after exposure to 1.0 mg/L trichlorfon. This result agrees with previous reports that morphological NAs are indicators of genetic damage . Finally, the increase in the number of leukocytes induced by trichlorfon indicates that more leukocytes were pumped from the haematopoietic tissue into the peripheral blood to defend against the damage caused by environmental pollution.…”

“…MN analysis is widely used as a bioassay of genotoxicity to detect small chromosomal fragments produced by clastogens or vagrant chromosomes produced by aneugens . MN formation in circulating erythrocytes in amphibian tadpoles as a consequence of pesticide treatment has been well demonstrated in previous studies . Our results demonstrated the potential of low doses of trichlorfon to induce DNA damage in the erythrocytes of this species after exposure for 4 weeks, whereas 0.01 mg/L trichlorfon exerted a least genotoxic effect.…”

“…Boana pulchella tadpoles are a suitable in vivo model for assessing lethal and sublethal effects induced by several emerging pollutants, including insecticides (Natale et al 2018; Sansiñena et al 2018), herbicides (Peltzer et al 2013; Pérez‐Iglesias et al 2015; Sansiñena et al 2018), and heavy metals (Natale et al 2000, 2006). This species is easy to find in 2 well‐defined breeding season periods (winter and spring).…”
