Toxicity evaluation of polyvinyltriazole and a related silver-containing nanocomposite

Abstract: The water soluble polymer nanocomposite consisting of metal silver nanoparticles stabi lized by poly 1 vinyl 1,2,4 triazole was synthesized by the chemical reduction method. The formation of the nanosized metal phase was confirmed by UV spectroscopy, transmission electron microscopy, and X ray diffraction analysis. The silver nanoparticles 2-10 nm are uniformly distributed in all polymer volume. The toxicological properties were studied, and a lethal dose was established. The morphological study of tissues of … Show more

“…Among the important properties of this polymer are pharmacological activity, nontoxicity, and resistance to aggressive media. Silver nanoparticles incorporated into the PVT matrix exhibit high antibacterial, immunomodulatory, and cytotoxic activity, enhance body defenses, and exert a protective effect against the Yersinia pestis bacteria and anthrax [ 27 , 28 , 29 ].…”

“…Intensive thermal destruction occurs at 330-450°C with 34.3% loss of the sample mass, accompanied by the exothermic effect at 350°C. At this stage, triazole and nitrile fragments of the polymer are abstracted (m/z = 67, 68, 26, 27) followed by oxidation to H 2 O, CH 4 , NH 3 , NO, CO 2 , and NO 2 (m/z = 16,17,18,30,44,46). At 450-760°C, the intensive exothermic effect, accompanied by 60.4% loss of the sample mass, is observed.…”
