“…16 Although the use of antiscarring agents was not found to be related to GDD survival in risk factor analysis, the number of nonaugmented cases was rather small, therefore the potential effect of antiscarring agents on improving survival of GDD cannot be excluded. It should be noted, however, that the role of MMC in the survival of GDD is still controversial [16][17][18] and caution should be exerted with its use in pediatric GDD surgery, as it has been associated with increased risk of potentially serious complications such as hypotony and its sequelae 19 as well as endophthalmitis. 16 The main difference in the 3 types of GDD used in this study was the surface area of the tube plate.…”

“…Intraoperative mitomycin-C was used in only 15 cases (Table 3). Ahmed valve implantations with adjunctive mitomycin-C for aphakic glaucoma were from one study 14 and had a high incidence of delayed suprachoroidal hemorrhage (2/15, 13.3%) but the few number of cases limited the study's statistical power.…”

“…Also, we had two patients with tube-cornea contact due to postoperative tube migration (typically anteriorly). Other studies report this complication in 26% to 35% of patients [11][12][13] . Th is phenomenon is more likely in the elastic infant eye than in the older child or adult 5 .…”
