“…Sr-Nd isotope geochemistry has been commonly regarded as a classical method to trace the origin and provenance of minerals, rocks, ore deposits and the evolution of Earth crust in the solid earth sciences (Zhong et al, 2004;Spiegel et al, 2002;Darbyshire and Sewell, 1997;Arakawa et al, 2000). In recent years, this method has also been widely used in studies of surficial processes including the provenance of desert sand and loess material, and transportation of atmospheric dust.…”

“…Experimental study has suggested that the FeO contents of the silicate melt exerts a most important control on sulfide solubility [34] , with an obvious positive correlation between them. Numerous giant V-Ti-Fe oxide deposits occur in the Pan-Xi area [9][10][11][12][13] and part of the magmas parental to the Longzhoushan basalts experienced crustal contamination [35] , implying that the basaltic magma system in this area is under relatively high fO 2 conditions. The fO 2 of the magmas would increase with fractional crystallization and thus caused the crystallization of an iron-titanium oxide.…”

“…Two important types of magmatic deposits related to the mantle plume occur in the ELIP: V-Ti magnetite deposits within the mafic-ultramafic layered intrusions [9][10][11][12][13] and Cu-Ni-PGE deposits in the mafic-ultramafic rocks [14,15] . Based on the previous studies [16][17][18] and depending on the improvement of analytical method on PGE, our recent studies further confirmed that the PGE deposits (mineralization) associated with V-Ti magnetite deposits exist in the Pan-Xi area, e. g., the Xinjie and Hongge deposits [11,13] . However, because it is difficult to get highprecision PGE data or the studied Emeishan basalts from the Qingyin hydropower station profile are far from the ore-forming area [19] , the genetic link between the Emeishan basalts and PGE mineralization has not been discussed.…”

“…1a) (Wang et al 2008;Zhou et al 2002Zhou et al , 2005. The Xinjie intrusion contains an ultramafic portion with minor amounts of Fe-Ti oxides in the lower part and a gabbro portion with large amounts of Fe-Ti oxides in the upper part of the intrusion (Zhong et al 2004). The Xinjie intrusion is well differentiated with weakly developed igneous layering, and comprises, from the base upward, a marginal zone and three Units (I, II, and III) with differing mineral assemblages (Fig.…”
