“…A systematic error exists in both of these methods due to the presence of other sugars in the products analyzed. Several other methods have been proposed (1-3), including gas chromatography (4)(5)(6)(7), whereby sucrose has been separated on packed columns as the trimethylsilyl derivative. We have shown that open tubular columns are suitable for the analysis of sucrose in sugar factory products (8) and in a recent note (9) reported that a high precision may be obtained for this analysis.…”
